My name is Raewyn Goodwin, and with the opening of Poppies Kerikeri I am living a dream, one shared by many of you, to open a bookshop.
Little did I know that when my daughter Frankie and her partner Tom moved north to Kerikeri last Christmas I would have the opportunity to turn my wishes into reality.
Frankie says the move has had a profound effect on their lives and describes each day as another in Paradise! Frankie particularly wants to thank all those who made her feel so welcome allowing for an easy transition and looks forward to continuing the developing of further friendships with this exciting new venture. She especially wants to acknowledge Body Divine, Bohemian Hair and all the wonderful people of the Whangaroa Game Fishing Club.
At the end of our first afternoon, I am pleased many of you showed your appreciation of our efforts to provide a stunning retail environment summed up in expressions like 'light, bright, spacious, homely and inviting'.
We look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends to future events, author presentations, books club nights and childrens' storytime sessions among many. We also welcome your suggestions on how we make Poppies Kerikeri 'yours', as well as ‘my kind of bookshop’.
Whilst I will be in Auckland for the first few days of each week and Frankie will be minding the store, I am looking forward to joining in the vibrant community life that Kerikeri and all the mid/far north offers.
Please make sure you fill in a Book Club card when you are next in store so we can keep you informed on our Poppies Hot Picks selection, forthcoming events and new releases.
As part of the Poppies family of 13 stores, we have access to fantastic search systems so don't hesitate to enquire for a book you want, even if you only have part of the name or details. We will be happy to search it out for you.
Looking forward to meeting you all, best wishes and happy reading.
