Description

Gemma and her brother Daniel have a wonderfully imaginative time playing with an empty cardboard lawnmower box they receive at Christmas from their Gran. The box becomes a sun shelter, a lolly shop, a tent and a secret craft cave.

Author description

Gemma Lovewell, 7, wrote Our Big Box when she was just 5 years old for a competition being held at Porirua Library. She sent the manuscript to renowned author Joy Cowley who helped her to get the book published. Gemma loves helping others and has been fundraising for the Wellington Children's Hospital through making and selling pet rocks.

Amber Edwards, 14, has already illustrated two books, including Too Many Cats by Joy Cowley. She has also come second in two illustration competitions and is a huge fan of dragons.
