A Change of Environment

Author(s): Robert Edward Bridge

Biography/Memoir

In his mid teens Robert Bridge is imprisoned in the security wing of New Zealand's most notorious mental hospital. Faced with insane adult criminals, lengthy spells of solitary confinement, staff intimidation and psychotic outbreaks of murderous violence, he must learn to survive, and to keep his sanity, while living in a place where sanity would be tested to its limit every day of his existence. This story is a chronicle of courage in the face of adversity and honour in the aftermath of tragedy. It is a testament to the power of the human spirit and a defining example of the difference one determined individual can make to the world around him. This book will make you angry: it will make you laugh and it will make you cry: but most of all it will impinge upon your peace of mind; for the world this story portrays will haunt your memory and disturb the awareness of your consciousness for a long time to come.

Product Information

Robert Bridge was born in Otahuhu, New Zealand in 1944. He is married with two children and five grand children. Passionate about sports participation, games and pastimes, he loves competing; coaching; solving crosswords, brain teasers, puzzles and word games. He began writing at an early age, writing two novelettes, thirty short stories and hundreds of song lyrics before his fourteenth birthday. Robert believes 'A Change of Environment' needed telling. He feels, in developed countries, we don't realise how thin our veneer of civilised conduct is, and how often, when accountability is lacking, excesses of our primitive natures arise to create senseless stress and chaotic violence. Robert has been a physical training instructor, professional songwriter, farmer, security officer, commission salesman, personnel consultant, and company director. He now works from home, writing fulltime, currently completing an autobiographical life experience series, a children's fictional series and a book of self compiled crosswords, brain teasers and word games. Planned future projects include a Sports Coaching manual and a Home Weight Training manual.
