The Little Things: Wondering if Parenting Can Actually Kill You

Author(s): Matt Lawrey; Peter Lole

Humour

The Little Things is a cartoon created by parents for parents, which sympathises, commiserates and celebrates with mums and dads everywhere. Launched in 2010 The Little Things is the most successful new cartoon to have come out of New Zealand in many years, and despite slashed budgets and shrinking readerships it has been picked up by a range of newspapers in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Matt Lawrey came up with the idea for the cartoon one day while drinking beer and watching his two sons do the mad sorts of things little kids do. An exhaustive search of artists led him to Peter Lole, a highly experienced professional illustrator, who importantly has three children of his own. Parenting is one of life's most universal experiences, and there is a huge appetite for these beautifully realized cartoons, which make people laugh, smile, and ultimately celebrate the upside-down world of children and families.
